Origin
The Valais vineyards are located on the steep slopes of an alpine valley, which makes mechanical harvesting very difficult. Most of the vines grow on these precipitous slopes. To even out the gradient, many terraces were built that are supported by dry stone walls.

About the wine
Originally from the famous French appellations Côte Rôti and Hermitage, Syrah is a grape variety that followed the course of the Rhône upstream and found a second home in Valais. Cultivated worldwide, it has become an insider’s tip in Valais and can hold its own when compared to the leading Syrah/Shiraz wines from all over the world.

Character
Intense, dark cherry red with violet tones. Notes of red and dark berries as well as white pepper. Very dense on the palate, full-bodied with spicy aromas and well-integrated tannins. Long-lasting finish, ends on a peppery note.

Food pairings
Game dishes, breast of duck with cherries, ostrich fillet with pasta, spicy skewer, beef roulades, specially selected cheeses.
