Origin
The Valais vineyards are located on the steep slopes of an alpine valley, which makes mechanical harvesting very difficult. Most of the vines grow on these precipitous slopes. To even out the gradient, many terraces were built that are supported by dry stone walls.

About the wine
The first record in Valais that mentions crossing the two grape varieties from the Aosta Valley dates back to the early 14th century. The vine is a natural cross of two varieties: Mayolet and Petit Rouge. Originally from the Aosta Valley, the varietal is one of the oldest grapes grown in Valais.
Character
Dark cherry red with purple tones. Rich aromas of sour cherry, violet, red berry and spice. Full-bodied with hints of spicy clove and fresh berry on the palate. Fine tannin structure and beautiful complexity.
Food pairings
Fillet of wild rabbit, calf’s liver Provençal, veal stew with mashed potatoes, deer stew, rump steak, spicy cheese.
